Section 6 of the Workers' Compensation Act (WCA) gives the Board of Directors the mandate to determine policy. The WCA, Regulation and policy provide the decision-making framework on entitlements and benefits for injured workers and on the responsibilities of employers.

Orders of the Board of Directors are required as stated in legislation for various circumstances, including cost of living adjustments (COLA), maximum insurable earnings (MIE), payments of interest and travel allowances.
