Manage Your Performance and Costs

Wage replacement and benefits

Your compensation rate is determined by using 90 per cent of your net taxable income to a maximum amount, determined each year by the Board of Directors (see table below). Your compensation rate will depend on a number of factors ranging from your salary to other sources of income lost due to the work-related injury.

Year Maximum Insurable Earnings
2009 $72,600
2010 $77,000

Regular compensation payments for wage replacement are payable during periods of total disability and are issued at regular intervals. You can view your payments online.

Reporting wage replacement benefits

Revenue Canada requires you to report wage replacement benefits as income; however, this amount is not considered as taxable income.

WCB-Alberta will issue a T5007 statement of benefits. For more information please reference the T5007 statement of benefits fact sheet (pdf, 236KB).
