WCB-Alberta works with treating physicians to ensure fair coverage for workers and a safe return to work. A medical opinion will affect your claim and benefits. It is important to have the best evidence-based medical information available for decision-making.
Independent Medical Examinations (IME)
You may be referred for an independent medical examination (pdf, 205KB) for an independent opinion on your medical condition. In complex cases where there are significant differences in medical opinion, a medical panel (pdf, 209KB) can be convened to provide independent expertise on the medical issues in question.
