Claim costs arising from a compensable accident or occupational disease are normally charged to the accident employer's experience account. There are, however, exceptional circumstances when the WCB may relieve the employer of all or part of the claim costs. The appropriate distribution of the relieved costs will be determined by the WCB.
Participation in certain pricing programs will affect eligibility for cost relief (see Policy 07-02, Part II, Application 7, Industry custom Pricing).
This consolidated policy is effective December 1, 2010 except when noted otherwise in a specific policy section(s).
Cost relief may be considered when situations specified in Part II of this policy have impacted claim costs. These situations include circumstances such as lengthy delays in hospital admission, negligence on the part of another employer under the Act or second injuries.
