Updated substance abuse information and resources for physicians

WCB-Alberta has revised its Opioid Management Policy, forms, and resources to be consistent with the recommendations of the “Canadian Guideline for Safe and Effective Use of Opioids for Chronic Non-Cancer Pain” (Canadian Opioid Guideline), released in May 2010.

Revised forms, including the Substance Abuse Assessment Checklist form (C-942) have been distributed to physicians and are now available on our website.

The Opioid Risk Tool is a worksheet provided along with the C-942 form to assist physicians in evaluating patient risk for opioid misuse or addiction.
