Security breach at WCB-Alberta

At approximately 8:30 a.m. this morning WCB-Alberta experienced a serious security breach at our offices at 107 Street and 99 Avenue when a man entered the building armed with a rifle. Approximately 700 staff work in this building. Staff have been evacuated and are safe. We can confirm that there are hostages and we are providing our full support to the police who are managing the issue. Our primary goals are to ensure the safety of everyone, to continue serving the public and to provide the most accurate information we can as quickly as possible.

The Edmonton Police Service (EPS) has set up a special phone hotline, 780-421-3550, for those who have concerns about family members or loved ones who work inside the WCB building in downtown Edmonton regarding the on-going incident.
