The claim process

Once WCB-Alberta has received report of an injury causing the worker to miss time from work beyond the date of the accident, a claim is established and reviewed by an adjudicator. The adjudicator determines if the claim meets legislation and policy requirements and, if so, accepts the claim. The adjudicator may contact you if more medical information is required to reach a decision.

A claim requires ongoing communication and updated medical information. The adjudicator may transfer the claim to a case manager who will work with the injured worker and his or her employer to determine the best return-to-work options available. Your input is valuable in ensuring we plan the best return-to-work path for the injured worker.

We can help you and your patient by expediting some testing and treatment and arranging for medical assessments.
