> Office Ergonomics Workshop
Full-day workshop 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Designed for office supervisors, human resources staff, health and safety specialists to help office employees prevent/reduce discomfort of repetitive movement.

Board of Canadian Registered Safety Professionals (BCRSP) has awarded this course 0.5 CMPs.

What you will learn:
  1. How to identify a potential injury risk before it happens.
  2. Assess risks and provide solutions with minimal modifications.
  3. Apply understandable ergonomic know-how to eliminate discomfort and reduce the incidence of a claim-related injury.
  4. Learn the proper ergonomic tools for evaluation and assessment
  5. Learn proper evaluation techniques to adapt job tasks to workers’ physical requirements.

In this small group session, you’ll learn from the experience of others, and use case studies to apply that knowledge.

> Industrial Ergonomics Workshop
Full-day workshop 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

For employers working in multiple industries such as manufacturing, construction, janitorial, hospital, meat handling etc.

Studies show that workers, who are taught how to safely perform their job, greatly reduce their risk of injury. Labour intensive industries often involve a lot of repetitive movement and working in awkward positions.

Board of Canadian Registered Safety Professionals (BCRSP) has awarded this course 0.5 CMPs.

What you will learn:
  1. How to identify those potential injuries before they happen. It could be as simple as employing a new ergonomically designed tool or workstation modification which will reduce discomfort.
  2. Easy-to-understand ergonomic assessment tools which can be applied to any worksite.
  3. Evaluation techniques to adapt job tasks to the workers ability.
  4. How ergonomics can be easily applied in any industry setting from a hospital to manufacturing setting, meat handling to janitorial work.

Case studies, open discussion in a small group session will enhance your understanding of basic ergonomic tools.

> Modified Duty Workshop
Half-day workshop 8 a.m. - 11:30 a.m

Workers who are injured pose a labour challenge for employers. You need your workers back at work and they need a healthy recovery.

What you will learn:
  1. Tools to develop a suitable and appropriate modified work program at your worksite.
  2. How to identify modified work duties at your worksite which will help injured workers make the transition back to full-time duties.
  3. What steps to follow when designing a return-to-work program that is manageable and effective for both the employer and the worker.
  4. How to develop a good modified work program to ensure the injured worker is slowly and safely reintegrated back to work.
  5. Strategies that will help injured workers in the short term and long term. From workers who need minimal modification to return to work and for injured employees needing accommodation for special needs.

In a small group setting, attendees are encouraged to share modified work experiences from their worksites.

> Physical Demands Analysis (PDA) Workshop
Half-day workshop 12:30 p.m. - 4 p.m.

As an employer, you know the specific physical demands of a worker’s job tasks. But communicating those tasks in an objective document to doctors and health professionals can be challenging.

What you will learn:
  1. Techniques to analyze and create a customized PDA that can be easily understood and applied.
  2. Understand how to plan for healthy return to work by assessing the physical demands of a job.
  3. Provide an understandable ‘snapshot’ of what someone does at work which can then be interpreted easily and quickly by all health care professionals (i.e. family doctor, physiotherapists, chiropractors).
  4. Provide the information needed to identify appropriate return to work options and help workers progress back to full duties.

In a small group session using open discussion, participants get ample opportunity to apply what they’ve learned through case studies, videos, pictures and best practice in similar industries.
