Millard Health’s approach to helping a person successfully return to work is by treating the whole person—physically, psychologically and vocationally. Each client receiving return-to-work services at Millard Health are cared for by a team of professionals. This team assesses the client and based on their needs, they are provided specialized rehabilitative and vocational services.
This team’s focus is to help clients return to work following an injury. The team does this by identifying what the client can and cannot do. This is then compared to what the client must be able to do in their pre-accident job. From here, they develop a plan to support them in returning to their pre-accident job or new employment.
This team helps clients who have experienced a brain injury. Team members include professionals who specialize in neuropsychological services. In addition to treatment for the effects of the brain injury, the team will also offer counseling and education for both the client and their family.
This program is specifically designed to treat clients who have been psychologically impacted by a severe work-related incident. Examples of such incidents include; serious motor vehicle collisions, falls from great heights, explosions and assaults. The TPI care model helps clients deal with their reactions to an incident with the goal of full recovery, as quickly as possible.
This team works with the client, the employer and health professionals to help the client return and stay at work. To do this, the team develops customized return to work plans which promote the client’s ability to get back to work and continue working.
Our Medical and Assessment Services offer medical and clinical services for clients. This includes diagnostic procedures, specialist consultations and specialized treatment services to meet each client's unique needs. These services include;
Examines a client’s current medical state and identifies any further need for medical investigation or treatment.
This assessment tool gives a “snapshot” of a client’s current level of function compared to the demands of their job (what they can and cannot do). This assessment helps determine if the client requires more treatment or services in order to meet the demands of their job and return to work.
While similar to a Basic Functional Capacity Evaluation, this detailed assessment tests the client’s overall work capabilities. The two day assessment helps determine the client’s actual work abilities and possible restrictions through a physical exam and functional testing (what they can and cannot do).
This is a meeting held with the client and their employer as part of developing the return-to-work plan. This meeting explores modified duties, alternate employment and the need for ergonomic/worksite modifications.
This assessment investigates problems a client may have with standing and walking and recommends corrective action.
In addition to medical, assessment and treatment services, we also offer vocational services. These services focus on moving the client to employability and can include career counseling, supported job search and gradual return-to-work plans.
After an injury, some of our clients may become anxious, depressed or experience chronic pain. For these clients, we can offer psychological assistance to help them cope and break the possible cycle of pain and disability.
